Lumen Circles works with civic activists, and knows that for many of them even small pieces of information can matter. So our rule is simple: we keep as little as we can, and we say plainly what we do keep.

The information described here is kept by Lumen Circles. If you have a question or a request about your information, write to info@lumencircles.org.

• Your account: your name and email address. If you sign up with an email and password, the password is kept encrypted by the sign-in service and we never see it.
• Your courses and your progress: which courses you have enrolled in, how far you have got, and the answers you have given to the questions inside the lessons.
• Your questions to the course assistant: the text of each question and the answer you received, so that the weekly questions allowance can be counted and so that we can improve the answers.
• Chat app connection: if you connect your Telegram account, that account's ID and the name you show in Telegram.
• Your messages to us: what you write in the contact form, and your email address if you subscribe to the newsletter.

• We do not sell any information, and we do not give it to advertisers.
• We have not put any tracking or visitor-analytics tools on this site.
• Cookies are used only to keep you signed in to your account. There are no advertising cookies.
• We do not pass your information to any other organisation unless the law leaves us no choice — and if that happens, we will tell you, if we are allowed to.

This site's data is kept on the Supabase and Vercel services. Beyond that, there are five cases in which information about you reaches somewhere else:

• Signing in with Google: if you choose this way, Google gives us your name, email address, the address of your profile picture and your Google account ID; of these, we show only your name and email on the site. Google gives us no other access to your account — your mail, contacts or files — and nothing is read from your account after the moment you sign in. At the same time, Google knows that you have signed in to the Lumen Circles site. If that matters to you, sign in with an email and password instead.
• The learning platform: when you go from your account into the learning platform, your name and email are given to it so that it can recognise your account; what you do there is recorded in the same learning record.
• The question-and-answer assistant: your question and part of the lesson text are sent to the service that writes the answer. Your name and email address are not sent to that service.
• The contact form's spam check: before your message is accepted, Cloudflare's Turnstile check looks at your browser and your network address to tell a person from a robot. The message itself is not sent to Cloudflare.
• Email from us: the note that tells us you have written, and any newsletter, is sent through Resend, an email service; it sees the addresses and the text of what is sent.

If you connect your Telegram account, your conversation with the assistant passes through Telegram and is subject to Telegram's own policies.

For as long as your account is active. Whenever you like, you can ask us to delete your account and all the data that goes with it; send your request to info@lumencircles.org. You can also disconnect a chat app at any time from your own account page.

• To see the information we hold about you.
• To correct whatever is wrong.
• To have your account and its data deleted.
• To leave the newsletter, by sending us a message or through the link at the end of every issue.

Your connection to this site is encrypted, and access to the data in our database is restricted. But no internet service is completely secure, and we do not claim to be. If you are in a risky situation, you can sign up under a name that does not identify you; we do not ask for your real name to use the courses.
